How the calculator works.

Three things separate fair dynasty trades from one-sided robberies: current production, future ceiling, and age. We weigh all three so you don't have to.

01

Add players to each side

Start typing a player's name and pick from the dropdown. Each player carries a dynasty value from 1 to 99, visible the moment you select them.

02

Hit Analyze Trade

The calculator sums each side, weighs the gap as a percentage, and decides whether it's fair, a slight edge, or a clear lopsided deal.

03

See the breakdown

Every player's individual contribution is shown so you understand exactly why one side wins — useful for arguing with the commissioner.

The dynasty value formula.

A player's final dynasty value blends current performance with long-term outlook, then adjusts for age. Prospects get future-heavy weighting plus an upside bonus.

Current Score 0–100

How productive the player is right now in standard 5×5 roto and category-based points formats. Pulled from rolling production with a lean toward the most recent season.

Future Score 0–100

Projected ceiling over the next 3–5 seasons. Reflects age, position scarcity, prospect pedigree, and skill profile durability.

Age Multiplier 0.64 – 1.15

Players under 25 get a dynasty boost. Peak years (26–28) sit at baseline. Anything over 30 is discounted progressively to reflect how dynasty leagues actually value declining production.

Prospect Logic +3 bonus

Prospects use a future-weighted formula (35% current / 65% future) since they have no MLB production yet, plus a small bonus to reflect dynasty optionality and ceiling premium.

Age Multiplier Curve

Top 25 dynasty assets right now.

Sorted by overall dynasty value across all positions. The under-26 group dominates because future runway compounds in dynasty formats.

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know about evaluating dynasty trades and using the FantasyTradeLab calculator with confidence.

How is a trade considered fair?
If the two sides are within 7% of each other's total value, the trade is labeled fair. Between 7% and 15%, one side has a slight edge. Above 15%, it's a clear lopsided deal. These thresholds match the rough consensus among dynasty analysts.
Does this work for keeper leagues or only true dynasty?
It's calibrated for dynasty leagues where players are kept indefinitely. For keeper leagues with shorter retention (3-year keepers), shade the values slightly toward current performance.
Why is Aaron Judge ranked lower than younger players with similar stats?
Even an elite producer over 33 carries a steep age discount because dynasty value is partly about how many productive years remain. A 24-year-old putting up 80% of Judge's numbers will outrank him because they project to produce for another 8+ seasons.
How are prospects valued versus established MLB players?
Prospects use a future-weighted formula (35% current / 65% future) because they have no MLB production yet. A top-50 prospect can already rank above a 30-year-old established MLB regular.
What scoring format does this use?
Values are calibrated for a 12-team standard 5×5 roto or category-based points league. They translate well to most common formats.
